Former Indian captain Virat Kohli made everyone nostalgic as he bowled an over against Hong Kong in a T20I match at the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai. Indian captain Rohit Sharma decided to give a little break to his bowlers, letting Virat roll his arm over to leave everyone surprised. It was his first T20I over n more than six years—and his first in more than two years.
Virat had last bowled in the 2016 T20 World Cup in the semi-final against West Indies, a match India went on to lose. It was his first over in international cricket since February 2020 when he rolled over his arm against New Zealand in a losing cause.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma revealed how perhaps that IPL 2012 over might have pushed him to change his mind regarding bowling. Rajkumar Sharma revealed how Kohli was always confident while bowling but an over in IPL 2012 could have forced him to not bowl again.
Well, for the unversed, during the IPL 2012, Kohli bowled an over which helped CSK get out of a tricky situation. Kohli had come out to bowl in the 19th over when CSK was on 163/4. However, he was slammed by Albie Morkel for 28 runs, including three stunning maximums and two boundaries, which turned the game upside down. CSK then smashed 17 runs off the final over to win the match.
“Virat was always confident as a bowler. Morkel did dent his confidence a bit in the past (laughs) but he was always keen to take the ball and used to say – ‘give me the ball, I will pick wickets.’ So it is great to see him bowling again,”

Overall, Virat has bowled a total of 25.2 overs in the T20 format, conceding at 8.05 and picking up four wickets. He has picked wickets of Kevin Pietersen, Samit Patel, Johnson Charles, and Mohammad Hafeez.
Talking about his batting performance, Virat Kohli made a decent return with the bat. He scored a steady 35 against Pakistan and remained unbeaten on 59 off 41 deliveries in the game against Hong Kong. Now with team India, all set to lock horns with Pakistan for the second time in the tournament Kohli’s form will be key for the Men in Blue.
