Legendary West Indies opener Chris Gayle has made a bold prediction ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The Universe Boss feels Australia and West Indies will lock horns in the final showdown of the T20 World Cup at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on November 13.

Though many experts and cricketers feel that the defending champions Australia are among the favorites to lift the trophy of the marquee tournament, however, it is likely to be a tough task for the West Indies, given they are a side in transition. In fact, West Indies have to cross big hurdles before making it to the tournament’s main draw.

In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Chris Gayle predicted a final clash between Australia and West Indies, saying: “I think there could be a final match between West Indies and Australia.”

Chris Gayle Is The Best T20 Cricketer Of All Time, His Experience Is Valuable To Rebuilding West Indies Cricket, Says CWI Chief In A Message To The Batsman For Completing 14000 T20

Recently, Australia and West Indies cricket teams locked horns with each other in a two-game T20I series, where the former team emerged victorious with a 2-0 margin. While the Windies were too close to winning in the first T20I match, the hosts dominated the game throughout the second match.

Chris Gayle, who has represented the West Indies team in all six T20 World Cups, feels that the absence of big players like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Andre Russell is going to impact the Windies team. However, Gayle has backed the new bunch of cricketers to thrive Down Under. He said:

“It will be very difficult for the West Indies team as the captain of the team is new and there is no Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell and Bravo in the team.”

He added: “Yes, it is definitely that the players who are included in the West Indies team are talented and can prove to be dangerous for any team. As everyone knows it is just a matter of adapting your strategy in the right way on match day. I hope the team plays well.”
