Swashbuckling West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has revealed that he got a personal text from India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on the occasion of India’s Republic Day on 26th January, Wednesday.

Republic Day is a national holiday in India, as the country marks and celebrates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950.

Chris Gayle, regarded as arguably the greatest T20 batsman, congratulated Indians on the occasion of their 73rd Republic Day on Wednesday. The left-hander stated that Narendra Modi’s early morning message further asserted the bond the Jamaican cricketer has with India. He sent plenty of love to his fans in the country.

“I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day. I woke up to a personal message from Prime Minister Modi Narendra Modi reaffirming my close personal ties with him and to the people of India. Congratulations from the Universe Boss and nuff love,” Chris Gayle tweeted.

Here, check out the Universe Boss’ tweet:

Speaking about Chris Gayle, the southpaw will not be part of the upcoming IPL 2022 auction; he represented Punjab Kings last season but pulled out before the league stage came to an end due to bubble fatigue.

He had been a big part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before Punjab Kings bought him in the 2018 mega-auction.

Chris Gayle had a disappointing 2021 T20 World Cup, which he confirmed was his last, and is set to retire from international cricket soon. At the end of West Indies’ campaign in the T20 World Cup, Gayle said he was hoping that CWI would “give me one game in Jamaica to go in front of my home crowd… then I can say ‘hey guys, thank you so much.’”

Gayle was likely to play his last T20I in the series against Ireland, but the one-off T20I was called off due to positive covid-19 results in the visitors’ camp. He isn’t part of the ongoing home T20 series against England.
