CLT20 2014: Dwayne Bravo is CSK’s Best Bowler

Dwayne Bravo is one of the best all-rounders in T20 cricket, at the moment. Bravo is mostly known for his batting, but in the last 2 years or so, he has emerged as one of the best T20 bowlers in the world.

We always talk about variations in spin, but Bravo has redefined the art with his right-arm medium fast bowling.

In the match against Dolphins, Dwayne Bravo gave 17 runs in his 4 overs and took 2 important wickets. The match was played on a belter of a wicket, and batsmen were scoring fours and sixes for fun. In a match where all other bowlers went for 8.5 runs per over or more, Bravo’s economy was 4.25. He bowled with great control and didn’t allow the batsmen to get away.

In the last 2 years or so, Bravo has worked really hard on his bowling. He mixes his potent yorkers and slower deliveries very well, and keeps the batsman guessing.

In an interview to The Hindu, Dwayne Bravo, before the start of the CLT20 2014, talked about his variations and said bowlers should try to develop more variations.

“The batsmen develop; they now have reverse-sweep, switch hit, lap sweep… The bowlers should try to develop more deliveries. It’s a fast-paced game. You got to think on your feet,” Bravo told The Hindu.

Bravo has a great control over his variations, and he uses them very intelligently in the death overs. Bravo is someone who really enjoys his game, and this allows him to stay calm and composed during the crunch situations.

In the match against Dolphins, the four overs that Bravo bowled were the game breaker. He bowled consistently in the good areas, and mixed his slower balls really well.

In my opinion, Dwayne Bravo is the best bowler in Chennai Super Kings’ side, and one of the best T20 bowlers in the world.
