Hailed as arguably the greatest all-format batsman to have played the game, Virat Kohli is currently in the last phase of his career. And while Virat Kohli is attaining perhaps the last peak of his career with big runs in the past year, Indian cricket has found Kohli’s successor in Shubman Gill.
Just like it was with Virat emerging as Sachin Tendulkar‘s successor in the master’s last phase, Shubman Gill is currently in a dream form over the past year, scoring centuries across formats and also in the IPL and has cemented his place in the Indian team.
All of inching toward his 24th birthday, Gill is hailed to be the Player to watch out for in the coming decade. And the Punjab-born batsman is therefore known as the Prince, the heir of KING Kohli’s legacy, and perhaps he could go even beyond Kohli’s numbers.
On that note, we thought to have a comparison of Virat Kohli’s numbers at age of 24 with Shubman Gill’s:

Test
By Virat Kohli’s 24th birthday, he had played 10 Test matches, in which he averaged 41 and had slammed 2 centuries, one of which was in Australia, along with 5 fifties.
Shubman Gill so far has featured in 15 Tests and averages 34 with 2 centuries and 4 fifties, including a 91 against Australia at the Gabba.
ODI
The captain of the 2008 U-19 World Cup winning team, Kohli had cemented his place in the ODI team at number 4 and by his 24th birthday was a World Cup winner. He hit a century on his 2011 World Cup debut match against Banglades hand also scored a crucial knock in the final.
By this age, Kohli had played 90 ODIs, ransacking 3886 runs at an average of 51 with the help of 13 centuries and 21 fifties. He had slammed 5 hundreds and 7 fifties against Sri Lanka in just 30 ODIs.
Talking about Gill’s ODI career, the youngster has also attested his authority in the ODI format with an average of 65 in his first 24 ODIs with the help of 4 hundreds, one of which is a double century against New Zealand, and 5 fifties. Gill has confirmed his place in the ODI side and, barring any injury, will play his first World Cup later this year, at home.
T20Is
By 2012, Virat was starting to build a strong T20I career as well. By the age of 24, he’d played 14 T20I innings, in which he averaged 38 with 4 fifties, 2 of which came in the 2012 T20 WC.
Shubman has cracked a T20I century against New Zealand already. He’s played only 6 T20I innings so far, but is set for more in the coming time.
IPL
It would be fair to say that Shubman has had a better IPL career at the age of 24 than Virat Kohli at the same age. While Kohli had scored 1639 runs with 8 fifties at this age, Gill has amassed 2751 runs with 3 hundreds and 18 fifties.
