Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has voiced called out for the ouster of Pakistan’s cricket team from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for its role in the Kargil war, Parliament attack in India, and other terrorist activities.
Well, Abhishek’s comments came after Fédération Internationale de Football Association or FIFA banned the Russian football team from playing under its national flag amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
For the unversed, the situation between Russia and Ukraine is quite disturbing. Recently, Russia launched an attack to invade Ukraine and since then there has only been bad news coming up.
On Sunday, FIFA announced that Russia will now have to play the World Cup qualifiers without its flag and anthem at neutral venues. FIFA also warned the country that it could be excluded from competitions if the situation doesn’t improve in Ukraine.
FIFA’s measures received a mixed response from the fans, while the decision was criticized as insufficient by European nations, on the other hand, there were many who lauded the big step taken by FIFA.
After coming across the news, Abhishek Manu Singhvi took to Twitter and suggested that ICC should follow the footsteps of FIFA and ban Pakistan for its involvement in several terrorist activities around the world. He wrote:
“If FIFA can expel Russia from the 2022 football World Cup, what was stopping the ICC from expelling Pakistan for Kargil, 26/11 & more recent events?”
