R Ashwin didn’t hold back in expressing his anger and frustration at young Yashasvi Jaiswal after Rajasthan Royals missed a run-out opportunity of Delhi Capitals opener David Warner. However, since Ashwin himself fluffed the throw from Jaiswal, he got slammed by the fan on Twitter for his burst of anger directed toward the young Jaiswal.
RR and DC met on Thursday night at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. In the 9th over of Delhi’s innings, Rajasthan got a great chance to run Warner out, who was settled nicely having scored 41(25.
The striker Rishabh Pant pushed a ball from R Ashwin to cover where Yashasvi Jaiswal was fielding. While Pant took only a couple of steps, David Warner, the non-striker, came almost halfway down the pitch as he sensed a quick single.
However, seeing Jaiswal get close to the ball, Pant cancelled the single. Warner aborted his run and turned back. Jaiswal picked the ball and looking at both ends, he decided to throw at Warner’s end, the non-striker’s. But instead of throwing it immediately after picking the ball, Jaiswal assessed the distance to the stumps. He came a couple of steps closer and then threw the ball on one bounce to the bowler, R Ashwin.
Ashwin, though, failed to gather the ball and disturbed the stumps without the ball in his hands. This gave Warner the time to get back in the crease. Ashwin looked angry and gave a reaction to Jaiswal, who quickly turned around and had a look of guilt on his face.
Fans on social media were not happy with R Ashwin as he had fluffed the ball himself.
