He also broke the record for the fastest 50 ever made along the way. It was a very special knock as Misbah silenced his critics in the most stylish manner.

New Zealand’s skipper Brendon McCullum became the first Kiwi batsman ever to score 1000 runs in a calender year. McCullum also broke the record of most sixes by a batsman in a calender year. McCullum smashed 33* sixes breaking the record of 22 sixes jointly held by Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist.

In the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15, MS Dhoni scored his eighth Test duck, making him the first Indian captain to score eight or more ducks. The previous Indian record was held by Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, who had failed to open his account on seven occasions as skipper.

The 33-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman overtook Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara when he stumped Mitchell Johnson off the bowling of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the third Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15.
