In a very welcoming decision, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) agreed to play two T20Is against West Indies in the United States of America. This is an attempt the reach more cricket lovers and take international cricket to America. India will play 2 T20Is in Florida on 27th and 28th August.

BCCI’s president Anurag Thakur announced during the Special General Meeting (SGM) on August 5 that the BCCI would be taking a person from each of its affiliated units, and also members from the state associations in the North-East. With at least six BCCI staff joining them, India’s ‘non-playing’ contingent could rise to 46, according to a source. This is for the first time ‘non-playing’ contingent would comfortably outnumber the playing squad, likely to have 14 cricketers

In a report published on IndianExpress.com, BCCI has earmarked a budget in excess of Rs 3 crore for the trip. Each member would be given business class flight tickets to Florida, along with $250 as allowance. The duration of stay is expected to be six days. “We have been told that one member from each association will be taken to the US for the India-West Indies T20 internationals. It’s an all expenses paid trip sponsored by the BCCI,” a cricket board member, who attended the SGM, said.
