Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan expressed confidence that MS Dhoni will uphold his commitment and participate in the upcoming 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL)after the 5-time champions retained their skipper on the retention deadline on Sunday, November 26.

Kasi Viswanathan downplayed worries about MS Dhoni’s fitness, assuring that the star captain has been recovering successfully from knee surgery and will be ready to play in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
For the unversed, during the last edition of the IPL, Dhoni faced considerable challenges with his knee. He encountered difficulty in walking properly, and when questioned about his participation in the next season, he stated that if he was fit, he would play for the fans who had given him so much.
Following the conclusion of IPL 2023, which was won by the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni underwent knee surgery in Mumbai. Since then, the wicketkeeper-batsman has been in the process of recovery, engaging in various fitness exercises. A video of him limping went viral last week.
Meanwhile, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that MS Dhoni will never back down if he has given a word. He said that Dhoni is fit and the team is hopeful of seeing him in the upcoming season. Speaking in a video posted by CSK, he said:
“If our leader has given a word, he has never gone back. He already told what he was planning to do in that interview. I am sure that knowing MS, he will always do what he has committed to do. He is quite fit. Thalaivan is thalaivan (our leader is our leader).”
