Suresh Raina, who is fondly hailed as ‘China Thala’ and Mr.IPL by CSK fans, has been a part of the Chennai Super Kings right from the inaugural season of IPL in 2008. Raina has been instrumental in the phenomenal success of CSK in the tournament, over the years and is the second-highest run-getter in IPL with 5368 in 193 games. He is behind only RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who has 5878 runs in 192 games.
However, ahead of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League, Suresh Raina pulled out of the tournament, citing personal reasons. Ever since then there have been speculations regarding the rift between Raina and the team, going around in the media. There were even reports that Raina had a fight with the team management over the hotel room allotted to him in Dubai.
Meanwhile, amidst speculations that Raina might not play for CSK again, an official of the team has confirmed that Suresh Raina will definitely be a part of the team in the next edition of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Mirror quoted that the team is looking forward to having Raina on board after suffering a humiliating defeat in IPL 2020 without Raina. The official said:
“He will be with us. There are no plans to part with him,”
Recently, Suresh Raina was all over the news for all the wrong reasons as he was arrested in Mumbai with other celebrities for violating COVID-19 rules. However, he was later released on the bail. Later, Raina released a statement that he wasn’t aware of the guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government as he was there for a shoot. Reacting to the news, the CSK official said:
“We have only read about the arrest. Our plans have nothing to do with that development. He will continue to be with us,”
