In the IPL auctions held for the 2018 installment of the Indian Premier League, the franchises showed a lot of faith in the young talents and we saw some promising youngsters being sold for handsome prices.

Every team was keen to get itself a rich pool of young talents and that was the reason why spent forces like Lasith Malinga or Chris Gayle either went unsold or went underpriced. Not many teams showed interest in players about 35 years of age but the Chennai Super Kings had different plans perhaps.

Chennai Super Kings became a butt of Twitter jokes as they used most of their resources and budget to get players who are well above 30 years of age. They bought Harbhajan Singh who is 37 years old and same was the case with Faf Du Plessis who is 33 years old. Most of the players bought by the Chennai Super Kings are in upper 30’s and maybe they have not played very smartly in the auctions.

NOT SO SMART USE OF RIGHT TO MATCH CARDS?

The Chennai Super Kings used their Right To Match card to themselves Dwayne Bravo who is 36 years old and Faf Du Plessis who is 33 years old. They could have used their Right To Match cards for some really promising youngsters who were a part of their squad but they used it for players too aged for the format perhaps.

UNHAPPY FANS

The Chennai Super Kings fans were very happy to see MS Dhoni comeback to the team. But now it seems like the fans are really disappointed by the roster the Chennai Super Kings has got for itself in the auctions.
