IPL 2022: India’s home series against West Indies came to an early end for Deepak Chahar after the bowling all-rounder suffered a hamstring issue during the third T20I match on Sunday (February 20). The incident took place when the right-arm pacer was completing the 2nd over of his spell when he stopped midway.
Deepak Chahar impressed one and all with his brilliant performance in the third Test match as he picked two wickets within 11 deliveries he bowled in the match. However, he wasn’t able to complete his 2nd over and had to walk back due to a hamstring issue.
As a result of his hamstring injury, Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of India’s upcoming series against Sri Lanka, which will begin on February 24.
Meanwhile, according to a report in Times Of India, a source has revealed that Deepak Chahar’s injury “looks bad” and there are chances that he could miss the upcoming 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League due to the injury. The source said:
“His injury looks bad. For all you know, he could be out of the IPL too (he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore in the IPL auction),”
It has to be noted that the Indian bowling all-rounder was the second most expensive buy in the IPL 2022 mega-auctions as he was bought back by Chennai Super Kings at the mega auction for INR 14 crore after an intense bidding war.
Apart from CSK, Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Delhi Capitals (DC) also fought to get the services of Deepak Chahar, but eventually, Chahar was bought by CSK.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni-led CSK is all set to kickstart its preparations for the upcoming season from the 2nd week of March. The Chennai-based franchise will hope that Chahar gets fit in time and is available for the complete duration of IPL 2022.
