2 years ago, on August 15th, 2022, just a few hours after MS Dhoni announced his international retirement, Suresh Raina said goodbye to international cricket. Now two years after the former Indian cricketer has bid adieu to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket as well.
Hailed as one of the finest batters in the history of the Indian Premier League, Suresh Raina last played in the T20 league back in the 2021 edition of the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. He himself had pulled out of the tournament in 2020 and was later on released after the 2021 edition of the IPL following a below-par season. He remained unsold in the 2022 mega auction.

Now, with an intention of playing in different T20 leagues around the world, Raina had announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. On Tuesday, Raina took to his social media and made a big announcement, taking the social media by storm. He wrote:
“It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket. I would like to thank @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities 🇮🇳”

The Tweet went viral in no time and was flooded with reactions and tributes from the fans and cricketers for the superstar player. From cricketers and experts to fans, everyone is taking to social media to hail the CSK champ.
However, one of the best tributes came from Chennai Super Kings’ official Twitter handle. Yes, as Raina announced his retirement from his IPL career, the Chennai Super Kings’ via their official Twitter handle to pay homage to one of their most loved cricketers who famously earned the nickname ‘Chinna Thala’ during his time with the franchise. CSK wrote:
