Dale Steyn Took A Dig At Jasprit Bumrah After His Clash With Jansen

Spearhead India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had engaged in a war of words with young South African pacer Marco Jansen over a short-ball barrage from the youngster to his Mumbai Indians teammate. This incident happened during the 54th over of India’s second innings in the second Test in Johannesburg.

Jansen had already bowled three short balls to Jasprit Bumrah before hitting the Indian tailender on the shoulder with another bouncer. On the next delivery, Bumrah mistimed his swing to another short ball.

Both players stared at each other, and as the heat of the contest got to both of them they headed for a confrontation in the middle of the pitch. Plenty of angry words and looks were exchanged between the Mumbai Indians duo before the on-field umpire separated their altercation.

Legendary South African speedster Dale Steyn criticised Jasprit Bumrah for having a go at young Jansen for his short ball barrage. Steyn pointed out that last year, in August, Bumrah himself had hurled down plenty of vicious bouncers at England’s number 11, James Anderson, in the Lord’s Test.

Then, Bumrah had bowled an extended 10-ball over, which included four no-balls, with several mean short deliveries, hurting Anderson on his upper body. Now, in this instance, he was on the receiving end but complained about it.

Dale Steyn reckoned that if Bumrah had no problem bowling bouncers to Anderson, he shouldn’t complain when someone else is doing the same to him.

“I swear I remember Bumrah doing the same thing to a Mr James Anderson not too long ago. Learn to take it kid,” Dale Steyn replied to a Tweet that read: “That look from Marco at Bumrah. Yep, if you dish it out you will receive it.”

Here is Dale Steyn’s reaction to the argument between Jansen and Bumrah:

Bumrah did manage to hit a pull six to Kagiso Rabada before being dismissed by Lungi Ngidi.

Meanwhile, India handed South Africa a target of 240 runs, of which the hosts have slashed down 118 by the end of Day 3 for the loss of 2 wickets.
