David Warner’s Wife Says Aussie Players ‘Were Kicked And Touched’ At Lord’s

The talks from the Lord’s Test of the Ashes 2023 – about Jonny Bairstow‘s controversial stumping (or run-out) by Alex Carey; about the Spirit of Cricket; about the following booing and reaction of the MCC members and their behavior with the Australian players in the Long Room – continue to not die down as the series moves into the 4th Test.

Speaking with Fox Sports, David Warner’s wife Candice made a sensational allegation against the MCC members, accusing that the Australian players were “touched” and “kicked”.

The controversial, yet in the laws, dismissal – some call it run-out, while some term it as stumping – of Jonny Bairstow by Alex Carey in England’s second innings at Lord’s on Day 5 sparked fire under the Lord’s crowd. While the crowd went wild, the MCC member seated in the Long Room jeered the Australian players as they went into Lunch.

‘The vile abuse kept going’, says David Warner’s wife Candice

  1. Some words were said from a few members which caught the attention of David Warner and Usman Khawaja, both of whom decided to have a confrontation with the MCC members. Later on, the MCC suspended 3 members pending inquiry.

Now, David Warner’s wife Candice has come up with an accusation that the MCC members had gotten physical with the Aussie players.

“It wasn’t just those images,” she told Fox News’ The Back Page. “It continued up two flights of stairs to the change room and two more flights of stairs up to where the boys were having lunch.

“You don’t want to see that anywhere. There were some players who actually were touched, were kicked.

“Usman Khawaja was really upset at what was directed at him as well. Jonny got up and had a few words, David had a few words back at him.

She added: “That whole Test was pretty grubby to be completely honest. It was very disappointing, even after the game when the supporters stuck around. There were players like Starcy [Mitchell Starc] and Pat Cummins trying to do their media, the vile abuse kept going.”

Australia lead the series 2-1 after the first three Tests. The 4th Test started on Wednesday in Manchester.
