David Warner’s Wife’s Instagram Post Suggests He Has Retired From Test Cricket

In an interesting, cryptic post that has sent the fans a bit of a puzzlement, the latest Instagram post by Candice Warner, the wife of David Warner, suggested that the left-handed opener has decided to retire from Test cricket in the middle of the ongoing Ashes 2023 series.

Although David Warner had earlier said that he would want to retire from Tests later this year at his home ground in Sydney where Australia will play Pakistan, the questions over his place in the line-up might have forced this potential, rumored retirement.

After the 3rd Ashes 2023 Test, at Headingley, which England won by 3 wickets and made a comeback in the series, Candice Warner took to Instagram to post a picture of herself with David Warner and their three daughters.

In the caption, David Warner’s Wife Candice said that “end of an era” for the family with Test cricket and showed her support to her husband.

Many fans in the comments have already considered David Warner’s retirement.

“The end of an era for us touring with test cricket, it’s been fun. Forever your biggest supporters and your girl gang. Love you @davidwarner31,” Candice Warner captioned her Insta post.

David Warner is having an underwhelming tour of England so far, and now as Australia head into the 4th Test against England, with the series 2-1, they have to make a tough call regarding their side.

The spotlight now comes back on David Warner who was dismissed for cheap scores in Leeds, both times by Broad. Warner has hit one fifty in 8 innings on the tour so far, and a tough decision awaits for Australia. The southpaw averages only 28 since 2021.

Mitchell Marsh’s century, and two crucial wickets with the ball, mean that he’s likely to be retained even if Cameron Green is fit. The axe might finally fall on Warner, although Pat Cummins, the Australian skipper, remained mum when asked about the selection after the 3rd Test loss.

“You keep all options open,” Cummins said. “We’ve got nine or 10 days now, so we’ll take a deep breath. We’ll go away for a few days.

“But everyone comes back into it. Greeny should be fit for Manchester. Josh [Hazlewood] will be back in there as well. So we should have a full roster and we’ll have a look at the wicket and have a chat and work out the best XI.”
