Shubman Gill, the young batting sensation is one of the youngsters who has been backed for success at the international level by several cricketers – current and former cricketer. Shubman Gill first grabbed all the attention because of his heroics in Inia’s U-19 World Cup-winning campaign in 2018.
Dean Jones Backs India’s Shining Star To Open For KKR In IPL 2020
After his heroics in the U-19 World Cup-winning campaign, he was bought Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction and he has impressed one and all with his batting performances over the past two seasons. However, over the last two seasons Shubman Gill had to bat in the middle order for KKR but he hasn’t disappointed with that as well. He was able to amass over 200 runs in both the last two seasons and has scored 4 fifties.
Recently, during an exclusive interview for Hindustan Times, Dean Jones revealed the name he will be looking for in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. He also gave his opinion about how time has come that Kolkata Knight Riders let Shubman Gill open the batting and show the world his prowess in batting at the top order. He revealed:
“I want to see Shubman Gill open the batting for Kolkata Knight Riders. I think there is an opportunity for it now and the time has come for them to put him at the top of the order and let him play,”

He also talked about another youngster he would be interested to watch out, Dean Jone named Delhi Capitals star player Rishabh Pant. He said:
“I am also very keen to see how Rishabh Pant plays. He has been a bit up and down and it will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure of knowing that Dhoni is back playing,”
