Deepak Chahar, the young Indian speedster bundled up Bangladesh taking India to the victory side in the three-match Twenty20 International series. He was exceptional with his variations as he delivered his career’s best figures of 6/7 in the final T20I to help India seal the series.
Deepak became the first Indian to pick a hat-trick in T20Is and also returned the best-ever bowling figures in T20Is. He was at his spectacular best in the death overs which has now become a luxury alongside Jasprit Bumrah for team India ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

His blockbuster performance has left everyone talking about him. However, it was the trust and faith that Rohit Sharma, the stand-by skipper, showed in him that has made Chahar the happiest. After the match, Chahar revealed the conversation he had with the skipper. He said:
“He told me I will use you as a Bumrah today. I will bowl you in the crucial overs and that was motivating for me. I love it when I am given responsibility under pressure because that makes me feel that I am being trusted. I feel bad when nobody trusts me. To get that confidence from the captain felt good at that stage of the game,”

There’s no denying the fact that Jasprit Bumrah is the No.1 bowler at present in the format and it is going to be very tough for the management to pick the players when he returns. However, Chahar is happy with the comparison with Bumrah. He said:
“Imandar hona chahiye (You should be honest) …I know where he stands and I also know where I stand. He is the No.1 bowler in the format and as a T20 bowler, he has everything, be it pace or control. He is the No.1 bowler for me and saying that is not a shame. I am not competing with him and my job is to do well. You need to focus on the game and the team should win and that has to be the priority,”
