India pacer Deepak Chahar is likely to miss part of full of the upcoming South Africa tour as he has decided to stay with his father who is not well. Chahar didn’t travel with the team to South Africa earlier this week.

Deepak Chahar, who is named in both ODI and T20I squads for the South Africa tour, missed the 5th T20I against Australia, having been named from the 4th T20I, due to a medical emergency involving his father.

It has been reported that Deepak Chahar’s father suffered a critical brain stroke and was admitted to the hospital. That’s why the pacer took a leave immediately, before the 5th T20I.

I cannot leave him in this condition: Deepak Chahar

The pacer has said that he is prioritizing being with his father and family right now, and will leave for South Africa only if his father’s condition improves.

“We got him to the hospital on time. Else, it could have been dangerous. His condition is better at the moment. People were asking, why I didn’t play the final T20I against Australia. For me, my father is very important. He made me the player I am. I cannot leave him in this condition and couldn’t go anywhere,” Deepak Chahar told Sports Tak.

“That’s why I am staying with my father and once he is out of danger, I will start my journey to South Africa. I have talked to Rahul (Dravid) sir and the selectors. Right now, my father’s condition is better,” the pacer added
