“Definitely MS Dhoni”: AB De Villiers Ends Debate Over Best Finisher

Former South African captain and batting great AB de Villiers has settled and ended the debate over who is the best finisher the white-ball cricket has seen. He didn’t hesitate to hail MS Dhoni as the greatest finisher in limited-overs cricket.

Fans of MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers have often been seen indulging in tussles and comparisons of the two greats, especially debating who was the better finisher between the duo.

Now, AB de Villiers himself had ended the debate by labeling MS Dhoni as certainly the best finisher of all-time.

In a Q&A session on his 360 show on YouTube, ABD was asked by a fan about who he believes is the best finisher ever the game has witnessed. There was no doubt in AB de Villiers’ mind that it was MS Dhoni. The South African also saluted MS Dhoni as a role model for youngsters in the world.

“Obviously me (laughs) No, I would say definitely MS Dhoni. I love watching him play,” ABD said. “The things he has pulled off in the past… I think of that 2011 World Cup – hitting that straight six to win the World Cup. That will be engraved in my mind forever. MS has done it so many times in all formats of the game,” the South African said.

He added: “There’s always been a big debate over who’s the best finisher – me or him? We can settle it now – I say MS is the best finisher. I am very happy to give credit where credit is due. For CSK in the T20s and IPL and for India in all formats of the game – just a fantastic person, just a fantastic man. A great role model for all cricket players around the world.”

“Play more MS Dhoni”: AB de Villiers’ advice to youngsters

AB de Villiers suggested the youngsters to play more like MS Dhoni – which is orthodox shots and less of the funky stuff that he used to do.

“I think especially of the kids and the youngsters – play more like him because he never played all these fancy shots. Play like MS – in the V. Once you have settled that, you can move on to the fancy shots,” AB de Villiers said.

MS Dhoni will seen in action next year in the IPL 2024 leading CSK.
