Young keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has been one of the finds for the Indian cricket team in their recently concluded 5-match Test series against England. Dhruv made his debut for team India in the 3rd Test match in Rajkot, replacing KS Bharat as the keeper in the lineup. He impressed one and all with his performances in his debut match and repaid the faith of the team management and selectors with his performances with the gloves and the bat.
Dhruv Jurel Revealed How IPL Changed His Life
Dhruv Jurel will be next seen in action in the upcoming 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League, where he will be plying his trade for Rajasthan Royals. Dhruv made his debut in the Indian Premier League in 2023 and played 13 matches in that season.
Ahead of the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League, Dhruv revealed how his first IPL contract helped him settle the debts of his parents. Speaking to News 18, Dhruv said:
“There was a huge debt on my parents when I got my maiden IPL contract. I paid all the debt from my first salary, and also bought jewellery for my mother”.
Talking about his performances, Dhruv played a crucial innings of 95 runs in his debut match, steering the team closer to England’s target when they were in a precarious position.
Dhruv’s heroics didn’t end there as during the 2nd innings of the same match, Dhruv Jurel delivered yet another outstanding performance. With the team chasing the target, Dhruv played an unbeaten innings of 39 runs, guiding the Indian cricket team to victory. Dhruv Jurel’s contributions were particularly significant as he displayed sensibility and resilience under pressure, ultimately leading the Indian team to success.
Dhruv Jurel has also been in great form for Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit. He has scored 98 runs in 23 first-class innings at an average of 49 with a century and six half-centuries. He also has an average of 47.25 and a strike rate of 92.19 in List A cricket.
