Australia’s ace bowler Pat Cummins made a blockbuster start to the as he led the Australian cricket team to an emphatic Gabba win to go 1-0 up in the ongoing five-Test Ashes series.

England kickstarted the morning session with skipper Joe Root on 86 and Dawid Malan on 80 as the third-wicket pair, who displayed an exemplary fightback and stitched a 159-run stand together. They looked to steer the team to a competitive total, however, both the batters fell inside the half-hour mark on Day 4.

Root and Malan’s knock went in vain as the Australian side made a stunning comeback in the last two sessions of the third day’s play of the opening Ashes Test.

Jos Buttler looked in great touch, but fast bowler Josh Hazlewood removed him. Eventually, England was shot out for 297 in a space of fewer than 30 overs. Australia took less than half an hour and lost just one wicket, of Alex Carey, to chase the target.

Earlier, Australia’s newly-appointed skipper picked 5′ for 38 to become the 25th captain to take a five-wicket haul in Australia. He helped the Australian side restrict the visitors for just 147 runs.
