Dinesh Karthik Tells Why India Didn’t Enforce A Follow-On: Many fans were surprised when India didn’t enforce a follow after dismissing New Zealand for just 62 in the second match of the ongoing Test series, at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

After Ajaz Patel stunned one and all by taking all 10 wickets in India’s first innings and becoming the third bowler ever in the history of Test cricket, Indian bowlers came down heavily on the Kiwi batters and destroyed their batting-unit with a brilliant team effort.

Mohammed Siraj led the attack with the ball and rocked Kiwis batting-unit with three early wickets. And later, the spinning-trio and Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and Jayant Yadav wrapped up Kiwi’s innings in to time and ended the innings for just 62 runs. It’s now the lowest ever total by New Zealand.

India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik shared his views and said that India didn’t enforce a follow-on because they wanted to make sure that all the basis of covered. He also said that this will be a good preparation for the upcoming tour of South Africa.

Dinesh Karthik Tells Why India Didn’t Enforce A Follow-On

“I get the feeling that you’ve got to understand that there’s obviously a tour of South Africa to follow. If you just this Test match, you won’t get extra points if you win in three or four days. I just feel that the more you bat, the worse wicket is going to get. So, it will be easier for them (India) to roll over New Zealand in the second innings,” Dinesh Karthik told on Cricbuzz.

“Now they have an opportunity to bat, they are way ahead in the game, and have more than enough runs. But they are just trying to rub it in and make sure that are covered,” Dinesh Karthik stated.

OUR VIEW: We agree with Dinesh Karthik that Indian batters, especially the middle-order needed more time in the middle as it will be the last Test outing before the much-awaited tour of South Africa.
