Life has come full circle for India’s veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. He was a part of the Indian squad that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and now on Monday, he was included in Team India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, which will kickstart on October 16 in Australia.

It was during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League earlier this year that Karthik had expressed his desire to be in team India’s World Cup squad and after putting in all the hard work, DK was rewarded with a much-deserving opportunity to represent the Indian side in the marque event. The upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 could well be Karthik’s last big tournament in international cricket and this is his golden opportunity to go out in a legendary way.

DK made his comeback to the national team earlier this year for the home T20I series against South Africa in June after some inspiring performances with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Karthik had not played any international cricket before that series since India’s 2019 World Cup semi-final defeat to New Zealand.

Meanwhile, after getting selected by the BCCI for the T20 World Cup 2022, Karthik shared an emotional Tweet expressing ‘Dreams do come true ‘. His Tweet took the internet by storm and received praises and congratulatory messages from all corners.

Dinesh Karthik also thanked the three-time IPL finalists for helping him achieve his dream while acknowledging the coaching staff of the franchise including Director of Cricket Mike Hesson, coach Sanjay Bangar, and Head of Scouting, Malolan Rangarajan while thanking the RCB fans. He wrote:

“Thanks @RCBTweets for bein an integral part of the journey and helping me achieve my dream. Most importantly to all the RCB fans who chant RCB,RCB even when am in my blues representing team INDIA , I LOVE YOU  GUYS. THANKS @malolanr @CoachHesson SANJAY BANGAR @basu2013 S SRIRAM”
