Meanwhile after a lot of rumors and speculations, regarding the IPL 2019’s runner-ups Chennai Super Kings playing the IPL 2020 season opener against Mumbai Indians due to the positive COVID-19 tests in their camp, the BCCI announced that the MS Dhoni-led team will indeed play the season opener on 19th September.
CSK was given a choice to start their campaign in IPL 2020 from 23rd September onwards instead of playing the opening game, however, their skipper MS Dhoni decided to go with the initial schedule.
