England Fans Insulted Legend Steve Smith In A Very Disgraceful Way: The intense battle of cricket between England and Australian cricket teams makes Ashes one of the most loved and exciting series in this game. Besides the intense game between the two, the off-field banter between the fans and the players adds an extra layer of excitement to the Ashes series. The involvement of the fans plays a big role in the Ashes series as not only it fuels the players but also adds an element of entertainment for the spectators.

However, sometimes fans cross their limits and disrespect players while trying to troll them. In the latest incident, England fans, who are known for their boisterous and passionate support, mocked Steve Smith again during the just concluded 3rd Test match at Headingley.

During the third Test match, a few fans were seen wearing Smith’s face masks, referring to Smith’s emotional breakdown during a press conference after the infamous ‘sandpaper gate’ incident in 2018. The act of the fans didn’t go down well with the fans, who are slamming the English crowd for crossing the line.

Check out the reactions of the fans:

So sad to see a legend get such treatment. Banter and all is fine but there's a line for everything. Funny how the "Spirit of cricket" banner is conditional pic.twitter.com/n0aVKJWTiy

This isn’t the first time that Smith has received such insults from the fans. In fact, Steve Smith and David Warner have been at the receiving end the verbal abuse from English crowds during both the Ashes series and major ICC tournaments after their involvement in a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa in 2018.

Earlier, during the first Test match of the ongoing Ashes 2023, fans mocked Smith by singing “Saw you crying on telly,” referring to Smith’s emotional breakdown on television after the infamous ‘sandpaper gate’. However, Smith took everyone by surprise by responding to the chants with a smile on his face. He seemed unfazed by the taunts from the opposition fans.
