The Indian cricket team had a terrible day at work on the opening day of the third Test match. Though the opening day of the 3rd Test match started on a brilliant note with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli winning the toss. He had no hesitation in electing to bat first, however, his decision backfired.

What followed was a brilliant exhibition of swing bowling from the pacer James Anderson, who kept his opponents on their toes as the Indian batting line-up was bundled up after scoring only 78 runs. It all started with James Anderson getting rid of KL Rahul in the first over itself only to edge it to the wicketkeeper, Jos Buttler.

Anderson then put on an exhibition of some great swing bowling to get rid of India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara and the big fish Virat Kohli without letting them trouble the scoreboard much. At 21/3 things started to look jittery for the Indian side but Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane tried their best to bring back the much-needed momentum to the game.

However, just when the fans felt that things will get better from now, it became worse. Ollie Robinson managed to get rid of Ajinkya Rahane at the stroke of lunch.

After the lunch, the England cricketers continued with their red-hot form as they dismissed Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, Rohit also succumbed to pressure eventually throwing away his wicket after making a good start once again. Thanks to the 11-run partnership between Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj, the Indian side scored 78 runs losing their last seven wickets for just 22 runs.

Later, the England batsmen gave a solid start to their side as they have successfully able to lead the game by 42 runs without losing any wicket.

Meanwhile, a fan named ‘Shebas’ took to his Twitter and shared an amazing stat, where he revealed how the Indian cricket team has never lost the 3rd match of the series. The fan stated that team India has played the 3rd Test match 13 times, where they have won the game 11 times. The fan wrote:

“Stats : Under Kohli’s Captaincy, India never Lost 3rd match of a Test Series
Played : 13
Won : 11
Drawn : 2
Lost : 0
Tomorrow #INDvENG 3rd Test”

With four days still in their hands, it will be interesting to see whether team India is able to make a comeback into the game and Virat is able to continue with this special record or England will break this record.

Here, check out the Tweet:
