Yuvraj Singh made his comeback in the recently concluded One Day International (ODI) against England. Yuvraj, who is one of the most loved cricketers in India, surprised one and all with his brilliant display of batting and scored a big hundred to announce his comeback. Batting at number 4, Yuvraj Singh scored his highest individual score in ODI cricket (150) and formed a match winning partnership with MS Dhoni, who also scored a big hundred (134). India lost 3 quick wickets but Dhoni and Yuvraj formed a match-winning partnership and helped India set a target of 381 runs in 50 overs.

Yuvraj Singh has fought many tough battles in his life and he has emerged as a winner more often than not. It is not easy for an international player to go back to domestic cricket and fight for his place all over again. There is no doubt in anybody’s mind that Yuvraj Singh is a pure match winner in limited-overs cricket and on his day, he can turn the match around single-handedly with his bat. His addition to the squad has added so much more balance. With him at 4 and Dhoni at 5, India’s middle order becomes more stable as there no substitute for experience.

After his comeback innings, Yuvraj Singh said in an interview that Virat Kohli played a very crucial role in making his comeback happen. This is what Yuvraj Singh said in an interview after his comeback innings:

“Self-confidence is always there when you have the backing of the team and captain. I think Virat has showed a lot of trust in me and it was very important for me that people in the dressing room trust me,” Yuvraj said, after helping India seal the three-match series 2-0 in Cuttack.

“It feels great. It’s been a while since I got a hundred. After recovering from cancer, the first two-three years were very hard. I had to work hard on my fitness and I was in and out of the team. I was not able to get a permanent spot,” he said.

“There was a time when I was wondering whether to continue or not to continue. I think a lot of people have helped me throughout this journey. So, never giving up is my theory. So I never gave up, kept working hard. I knew times will change,” Yuvraj Singh added.
