The Asia Cup 2023 will get underway on August 30, Wednesday, in Multan with Pakistan taking on Nepal for the first match of Group A. The final will be played on September 17 in Colombo.

This year’s Asia Cup is the 16th edition of the continental tournament.

Where is the Asia Cup 2023 being played?

The 2023 Asia Cup will be played across four cities in Pakistan and Sri Lanka: Multan, Lahore, Colombo, and Kandy. Pakistan will retain all the hosting rights of the tournament. Because the Indian team is not allowed to travel to Pakistan, some of the matches were shifted to Sri Lanka.

This Season of Asia Cup will include 13 matches, out of which 4 will be played in Pakistan and 9 in Sri Lanka.

All the matches in the Asia Cup are scheduled to start at 3.00 PM IST.

When is the India vs Pakistan match in Asia Cup?

The much-awaited clash in Group A between India and Pakistan will be played on September 2 in Kandy.

Such is the format of the Asia Cup that there is the possibility of three India vs Pakistan matches. Here’s how:

If both teams reach the Super 4s, that is by knocking Nepal out in Group A, India and Pakistan will meet again on September 10 in Colombo. If both teams finish in the top 2 of Super 4 round, they will meet in the final on September 17 in Colombo.

What are the groups and format in Asia Cup 2023?

Six teams will take part in the Asia Cup. India, Pakistan, and Nepal are in Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are in Group B. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the next round – Super 4 – all four teams will play each other once and the top 2 in the Super 4 round will reach the final.

Who won the last Asia Cup?

Sri Lanka won the last edition of Asia Cup in 2022 in Dubai, defeating Pakistan in the final. Though that tournament was in T20I format, and Asia Cup 2023 will be played in ODI format. The last time Asia Cup was held in ODI format was in 2018 when India won the tournament, defeating Bangladesh in the final.
