IPL 2017: It is being reported that next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will be open auction, in which no team will be able to retain players. This means that each and every player will go in to auctions and franchises will have to fight it out there in the auction room to get their star players back.

In an interview to Times of India, Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta revealed said that all the franchise owners have been informed about open auctions. Zinta said that she welcomes this decision by Board of Control for Cricket in India. However, she also added that, there is no problem with KXIP’s current squad and she is very happy with how things are shaping for them this season.

“It was meant to be an open auction without retention. We have been told about it. I will welcome it if BCCI decides to go for an open auction. It doesn’t mean that I am not happy with my team. I think, we have a great team. The teams which are doing well are the ones where the young Indian players are performing,” Preity Zinta was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Praising Kings XI Punjab’s mentor’s role, Zinta said that Sehwag is an unbelievable coach and he has a super cricketing brain.

“We have an unbelievable coach in Virender Sehwag. He is dynamic, helpful and extremely chilled out. He also has a super cricketing brain which makes him a very special coach. When we played the Mumbai game, the fans were shouting at the top of their voice when Sehwag came out on the field. The atmosphere was electric. Similarly, the fans in Mohali cheered for AB de Villiers last year. It is fun seeing how the Indian fans appreciate good cricket,” Preity Zinta said.
