Has Rohit Sharma Announced Retirement From Test Cricket: The RohitSharma-led Indian cricket team extended their long wait of 10 years as they once again lost an ICC knockout finals at the hands of Australia The Oval. The Pat Cummins-led side thumped India by a massive margin of 209 runs to win the WTC on Day 5.

India was given a huge target of 444 runs by Australia as the Pat Cummins side decided to declare their 2nd innings for 270/8 to set a mammoth target for India. Chasing the target, the Indian cricket team suffered a horrible batting collapse. None of the batters could get past the 50-run mark. Virat Kohli topped the score for India with 49 runs.

Meanwhile, after the Indian cricket team lost the WTC Final, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was trolled left, right, and center by cricket fans around the world. Amidst all this,  a screenshot of a Tweet has been going viral on the internet. The Tweet suggests that Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from the Test format.

Fact-Check: Has Rohit Sharma Announced Retirement From Test Cricket?

Well, no. The message on the viral screenshot is wrong. In fact, the whole Tweet and Twitter user who shared this message is wrong. This is a Parody Account of Rohit, who tried to spread false rumors after team India was defeated by the mighty Australians.

Unfortunately, Kohli was the first one to get dismissed on Day 5 as team India resumed the play on the crease. Kohli was undone by a beauty from Steve Smith on 49 runs in the slip cordon off Scott Boland who quickly removed Ravindra Jadeja as well in the same over.

Rohit on India’s defeat

Later, after the defeat, speaking at the post-match press conference, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed his thoughts on the match, commending Australia’s batting performance. He said:

“I thought we started well with winning the toss, putting them to bat in those conditions. We bowled well in the first session and then we let ourselves down with how we bowled. Got to give credit to the Australian batters. Head came in and played really well along with Steven Smith. That just took us off guard a little bit. We knew it was always hard to comeback, but we put up a good show. We fought till the end. We’ve worked hard for all those four years,”

He added: “Playing two finals is honestly a good achievement for us. But we’d like to go a mile ahead as well. You can’t take the credit away from what we’ve done in those last two years to come here. Great effort from the entire unit. Unfortunately, that we couldn’t go on and win the final but we’ll keep our heads high and fight. It’s been brilliant! (Talking about the crowd support). They’ve gotten behind the time. I’d like to thank each one of them. They were cheering for every run and every wicket,”
