Sachin Tendulkar, for nearly 24 years, carried the hopes of Indian batting on his shoulders. For the majority of his career, he was at the heart of India’s rescue from tough situations. Until the arrival of players like Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, and others, Tendulkar was often the lone warrior battling out his nation.

However, still many have questioned his ability in the games that require character and delivery. Generally, those who understand cricket and possess an acumen about the game, have tried highlighting performances in the finals of various tournaments. In Sachin’s 24-year cricket span, he scored 49 centuries out of which six have come in tournament finals for India. And to nobody’s surprise, all six have resulted in an India win.

It is worth remembering that Sachin’s first of the career unfolded before the 2000s. For nearly 11 years, he played alongside a generation of betters where he was head and shoulders above the rest. Despite some of the best bowling attacks of all-time that featured during the 1990s, Sachin was able to overcome every challenge in his career.

Out of the six match-winning innings, he played four knocks during 1998, a year that saw him touch ever greater heights in one-day internationals. His other two knocks arrived during the latter half of his career. A century in the final of the CB Series against Australia 2008 and one against Sri Lanka in the final of the Compaq Cup.

In those six games, the Master Blaster scored 741 runs including a highest of 138 against Sri Lanka in 2009. In his entire career, the Mumbaikar featured in 40 tournament finals, scoring 1851 run at an average of 54. And in 17 victorious final out of those 40, Sachin scored at an average of 96. This clearly depicts that he had a greater role to play in successful results for India.
