Faf du Plessis Opposes Sourav Ganguly’s Idea Of ‘4-Nation Tournament’

Ever since Sourav Ganguly has stepped in as the new BCCI’s President, he has been working day and night to take the Indian cricket to a new level by taking some innovative steps. He gained praise from all corners after the successful completion of the first-ever pink ball test hosted by India.

Now after the Pink ball test, Sourav Ganguly has put forth his idea of organizing Superseries, where four top playing nations- India, Australia, England, and one more team, can take part in the tournament and lock horns with each other.

Well, Sourav Ganguly’s idea has become a debatable topic among the cricket fraternity. While his idea has been liked by some as it will help in improving the game among the top four cricketing nations, on the other hand, it didn’t go down well with many people as it sounded partial and discriminatory as several other nations won’t be able to take part in it.

Faf du Plessis, the skipper of South Africa’s cricket team, has also joined the bandwagon to oppose Sourav Ganguly’s idea of a 4-nation tournament. He said that there was already a lot of cricket that involved the top three. As per him, it would be wise if the tournament has more teams taking part in it as it will help the game improve in other parts of the world. He said:

“The last year or so you can see what’s going on in terms of the big three countries,”

He added:

“There’s a lot of movement going towards that, a lot more matches being played against the top three, or big three. It’s probably better if you include more teams, the better to grow the game as much as you can.”
