Faf du Plessis Penned A Heartwarming Note For His New RCB Family

Swashbuckling South Africa batter Faf du Plessis was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 7 crore at the IPL 2022 auctions in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The explosive batter will start a new and exciting journey with the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise. He could possibly take over the role of captain as well. But Faf joining RCB also marks the end of a long journey for the opening batter with Chennai Super Kings.

Last year, during the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, Faf du Plessis completed 100 matches for the franchise. For the unversed, Faf du Plessis was associated with Chennai Super Kings, ever since he made his debut in the IPL in 2011. In 2016 and 2017, when CSK was banned for two years, he played for Rising Pune Supergiant.

Over the years, Faf had become an integral part of the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. However, with the teams only being allowed to retain four players, Chennai Super Kings released Faf ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Meanwhile, Faf is all set to start his new journey with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and is more than excited to help them win their maiden IPL title. RCB shared a video of Faf du Plessis on their official social media account. In the video, du Plessis said that he is looking forward to helping RCB win their first-ever title. He said:

It’s exciting… the opportunity about what the future holds with RCB. I will bring everything I have to the table to try and make sure we get the silverware into the franchise. Look forward to meeting you all soon,”

Furthermore, he labeled the move from his former team Chennai Super Kings to the Royal Challengers Bangalore as a ‘new chapter’ in his life. He said:

To everyone at RCB, I am really excited to start what will be a new chapter in my life with a new team.

Concluding his statement, he thanked the team management for showing faith in his abilities and signing him for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
