Although, the South African cricket team has already lost ongoing India vs South Africa test series but they would give their best to seal the final game at Ranchi at any cost, in order to avoid the complete whitewash of 0-3 by the Indian cricket team.
The final match will also make a lot of difference to the points table of ICC Word Test Champions, thus, it is very important for the South African cricket team to win the final match. Talking about the same, the skipper of South Africa Faf du Plessis has sent out a strong message to the batsmen of his team.
Faf du Plessis has asked his teammates to contribute heavily in the first innings at Ranchi to be in the safe zone. He stressed that scoring heavily in the first innings will hold the trick, as heavy runs can lead to many things once the second innings start. The skipper wants his players to make it tough for the opposition to field in all sections of the game.
He said: ”We need to put big runs on the board in the first innings”.
He added:
“When you get runs in the first innings anything from there is possible. For us first innings runs will be vital and then anything could happen in the second innings”.
Furthermore, he also talked about the wicket and the pitch. He believes that the wickets will be a turning wicket for sure. He said:
“It is really important that you prepare as much as you can and make it as tough as possible”.
He added:
“I think wicket will spin, I looked at the pitch and it looks dry and hard. So I think reverse swing and spin will play a factor in this Test match”.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli and company are looking forward to a complete whitewash of the guests and win the series by 0-3.
