Royal Challengers Bangalore is currently locking its horns against Punjab Kings in the ongoing game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, as the match began, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli found himself at the receiving end of criticism as he dropped Washington Sundar from the playing XI.
However, ahead of the game against Punjab Kings, Washington Sundar was dropped from the playing XI. The young all-rounder has had a disappointing season so far and has been replaced by another all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed.
Sundar impressed one and all with his performances for RCB and eventually made his space in Team India’s T20I squad. His consistent performances helped him replace Ravi Ashwin in the playing XI as his batting came as a bonus for the team.
Sundar fulfilled everyone’s expectations and impressed with his batting performances in test cricket. However, T20 is a different format and Sundar has been struggling to adapt to the conditions in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.
So far, in IPL 2021, Sundar picked just 3 wickets in 6 games and scored only 31 runs at an appalling strike rate of just 65.95. Therefore, the team management had no other choice than to replace the all-rounder.
Meanwhile, the fans on social media came up with mixed reactions to the exclusion of Washington Sundar from the playing XI of RCB. While some were happy with the decision of Virat Kohli and trolled the all-rounder, on the other hand, there were many who weren’t impressed with the decision of Virat and started trolling him left, right, and center.
