Fans Hail Rahul Dravid For His Simplicity At A Book Event

24064 international runs. India’s second-leading international run-scorer. But from every ounce of his body and mind and heart, Rahul Dravid is a really simple and humble person. The current Indian men’s head coach was recently seen sitting at a simple, undecorated, plain chair during a book event in Bangalore.

Nicknamed ‘The Wall’, Dravid’s down-to-earth behaviour during the event went viral on Twitter and other social media platforms, making fans fall more in love with one of the finest gentlemen of the game, on and off the field.

A Twitter user by the name Kashy and Twitter handle @vinaykashy narrated the incident where Dravid was seen at a book event in a Bangalore bookstore where former cricketer GR Viswanath was there to talk about his new book titled Wrist Assured. The former India number 3 Test batsman arrived at the venue wearing a mask and quietly sat in the back.

After he was recognised by Viswanath, Dravid came to the front to greet the people and even signed autographs. “He said sorry when he couldn’t get his autograph right because people wouldn’t let him stand properly!” Kashy added, describing the humble nature of the legendary cricketer. Dravid then asked the fans to let Viswanath talk about his book as it was the latter’s event everyone had come for.

Reading this incident, netizens were in awe realizing the simplicity and humility of this great man.

Twitterati hailed Rahul Dravid for his humble gesture at the event:

Rahul Dravid, who took over the head coach role from Shastri last year after the T20 World Cup, suffered Test and ODI series defeat in South Africa but India clean-swept New Zealand, West Indies, and Sri Lanka at home across formats. Dravid and India’s next assignment, after the IPL, will be a home 5-T20I series against South Africa.
