[World Cup 2023] Fans Hail Virat Kohli For Playing A Powerful Knock Of 95 Runs Against NZ

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli played yet another powerful knock of 95 runs as he helped the Indian cricket team beat New Zealand by four wickets in the ODI World Cup 2023 clash at Dharamsala on Sunday. All thanks to the brilliant knock by Kohli, the Indian cricket team was able to end New Zealand’s jinx by picking up their first-ever over the Kiwis in ICC events since 2003, thus ending a 20-year-old jinx.

Even though it was a heartbreak for Virat Kohli and his fans, as he came agonizingly close to going level with Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 centuries in ODI cricket, however, he missed the well-deserved century by just 5 runs when he was dismissed by Matt Henry.

Kohli walked into bat when India lost its first wicket in the form of Rohit in the 12th over and took the game by storm. Virat couldn’t complete the chase for India but riding on his mature knock helped India to reach a victory target of 274 runs with two overs to spare to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing marquee tournament.

Kohli showcased why he is hailed as the chase-master as he slammed magnificent 95 runs off 104 balls, with 8 fours and 2 sixes.

Talking more about his knock, Virat smashed his 69th fifty in ODIs and his third in this World Cup. Kohli surpassed Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan and India captain Rohit Sharma to become the leading run-getter in the 2023 World Cup.

Meanwhile, as Kohli was dismissed after scoring 95 runs, fans on social media were left in disbelief. Fans came up with amazing reactions and memes, hailing the batting maestro for his incredible knock.

After the match, during the post-match presser, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also hailed Virat for his brilliance. He said:

“Nothing much to say. He (Kohli) has done this for us so many years. He backed himself to do the job. Kohli and Jadeja pulled us back when we lost a few wickets in the middle.”
