The historic win at the Gabba came because of inspired and mature performances by young cricketers like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar, all of these players who have played under Rahul Dravid at the Under-19 level.

While Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar had played in the U-19 team in 2016, on the other hand, Shubman Gill had played in the 2018 team managed by Dravid.

Indian Cricket Fans Hail ‘The Wall’ After India’s Historic Win:

Rahul Dravid, who is also known as ‘the wall’ of the Indian cricket team, was a rock in the Indian middle-order during his playing days. The legendary Indian cricketer is still remembered for his terrific performances in the longest format of the game.

Over the years, Rahul Dravid has become the backbone of the Indian cricket team. He has been grooming the youngsters for competitive games at the National Cricket Academy as coach of India A and Under-19 side. He has played a key role in the grooming of youngsters including Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, and many more.

Time and again several cricketers have credited their success to THE WALL for honing their skills. Therefore, as soon as team India lifted the Border-Gavaskar  Trophy, fans on social media hailed Dravid for grooming and guiding these youngsters.

Credit to U19 coach of Indian team – Rahul Dravid
The composure of Pant, Gill and Washington Sundar is all kudos to this man!

Why has Rahul Dravid not got the Bharat Ratna yet? Like what else do we want him to do?

— Sohini M. (@Mittermaniac) January 19, 2021

Far away from the melodrama, somewhere in a room in Bangalore, Rahul Dravid watches this, having quietly built a menacing machine of under 19’s who will constantly supply future Indian wins. And ignoring the noise and metaphors, he will methodically and coldly go back to work.

Real man of the series – Rahul Dravid. Building such a great bench strength through India A. Moulded in his personality – grit, resilience and immense self belief!!

— Mandar Dandekar (@MandarDandekar) January 19, 2021

As someone said on WhatsApp: We have to also give credit to Rahul Dravid for grooming our youths in the India A setup. Players like Gill, Siraj, Sundar, and Thakur had an instant impact! #IndiavsAustralia #IndianCricketTeam

In an office at the NCA in Bangalore, Rahul Dravid must be watching and feeling proud of the India A and India U19 programs he’s developed, which gave India their depth.

Then, he’ll quietly get back to work planning the next series.

“Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight”

Congratulations India. #AUSvsIND #RahulDravid pic.twitter.com/k56tYtJw91

We just cannot forget what Rahul Dravid has done with our younger players. We’re wondering how can they be so resilient in their 1st or 2nd matches! Let’s not forget they’ve been trained & mentored by Dravid. Who’s still serving Indian cricket like none other! ??? https://t.co/sz5RPfPQF9
