Fans Offer Condolences To Suresh Raina After His Father’s Demise

In a piece of bad news, the father of former India batsman Suresh Raina, Trilokchand Raina, has sadly died on Sunday, February 6, after losing a long-fought battle against cancer. Tirlokchand, who had served as a military officer, passed away at his Ghaziabad residence.

Raina’s father’s ancestral village is ‘Rainawari’ in the Jammu and Kashmir union territory of India. His father left the village after the killings of the Kashmir Pandits in the 1990s. The family settled down in Muradnagar town.

Tirlokchand had been battling cancer for a long time while he worked in the Ordnance Factory.

Fans Offer Condolences To Suresh Raina After His Father’s Demise

This news has saddened the fans and they have offered condolences to Suresh Raina and his family.

Speaking of Suresh Raina, the left-handed batsman who retired from international cricket in 2020, has been added to the IPL 2022 mega-auction list. Raina, who was released from Chennai Super Kings, is listed in the highest bracket of 2 crore.

Raina, who had opted out of IPL 2020, didn’t pick up his best form in IPL 2021. He played in 12 games and managed 160 runs at an average of 17 with a strike rate of 125. He struggled with injury as well and was benched for the last phase of the tournament, including the playoffs, replaced by Robin Uthappa.

Raina was a key player in India’s white-ball sides from 2010 to 2017 before losing place due to a dip in form. He played two crucial innings during the 2011 World Cup knockouts – in the quarterfinal versus Australia and semi-final versus Pakistan. Raina, a handy off-spin bowler, was a live wire in the field.

In the IPL, Raina earned the moniker of Mr. IPL for his consistent performances; from the first season in 2008 to 2019, Raina registered over 300 runs each season. It would be interesting to see which teams bid for Raina in the mega-auction.
