Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) kicked off on Thursday with a nail-biting opening game, which ended with a Super Over. While the game between Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) and Nellai Royal Kings (NRK) was as entertaining as it could get, however, an ugly controversy erupted after tempers flared between two senior cricketers of both the teams.
Ugly Drama In The Opening Game Of TNPL

Well, during CSG’s chase, Narayan Jagadeesan was run out at the non-striker’s end as NRK’s bowler Baba Aparajith ‘Mankaded’ him when he was on 25 runs. For the unversed, Narayan Jagadeesan played for Chennai Super Kings in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
The dismissal was not received well by the batter, following which they were involved in an ugly spat that a fan wouldn’t want to see on a cricket field.
Frustrated by the dismissal, Jagadeesan was walking back to the dugout, however, he turned back in the direction of the bowlers and raised his middle finger. But he wasn’t done, he took off his gloves and made that disrespectful gesture once again. The video of the same has been going viral on the internet and has created a buzz.

Check out the reactions of fans here:
I see no problem in “non-striker run outs” like this but the bowler waited way too long here
If that ball was actually bowled, Jaggi would be inside the crease, but ofc there is no way to measure that. The ultimate shithousery lmao local leagues are madddd

Jagadeesan needs lesson from Ashwin anna @ashwinravi99 @DineshKarthik https://t.co/Z2Q8RcTsgZ— Jatin Khandelwal (@jr_khandelwal) June 23, 2022
Talking about the game, the dismissal changed the momentum of the game as Chepauk players had gotten off to a brisk start but after Jagadeesan’s wicket, the game was shifted towards NRK. Jagadeesan had made 25 off 15 before his dismissal.
It has to be noted that the custodians of cricket laws, the Marylebone Cricket Club, recently re-classified the controversial runout, from law 41’s ‘unfair play’ and incorporated it within law 38 pertaining to legitimate runouts. Yes, the dismissal form is legal and well within the rules.
