Fans React After GT Qualified For IPL 2022 Finals After Defeating RR

IPL 2022: With 16 needed in the final over against the Gujarat Titans, the game hung in balance. Not for those who knew how bad Rajasthan Royals’ Prasidh Krishna is in death overs, and in particular in the 20th over of the innings.

David Miller further resonated Prasidh’s horrific 20th over an economy in the IPL – which now stands at 13.62 – and also asserted his hitting abilities, clattering the lanky seamer for three sixes in a row to propel the first-timers in the IPL, Gujarat Titans, to the final of the IPL 2022.

Hardik Pandya, the GT captain, had won the toss and sent in RR to bat first at the Eden Gardens where rain has been a talking point. What rained tonight was sixes and fours – Jos Buttler hit 14 combined and Sanju Samson 8 to take RR to 188; 8 did Miller( 5 sixes in it) and 17 combined by three other GT batters who helped them chase down the target with 7 wickets and 5 balls left.

Coming in at the early fall of Jaiswal, Samson went all gung-ho against GT, smashing his first ball six and rumbled to 47 off 26 balls. Buttler was, at one point, 39 off 38 balls, but had an outing full of luck – dropped twice, mistimes not going to the fielders, boundaries off misfields. He raised his fifty off 42 balls but then teed off spectacularly to end up with 89 from 56 balls.

In the chase, GT lost their powerplay basher Wriddhiman Saha in the first over to Boult, after which, though, Matthew Wade and Shubman Gill put on 72 runs at 10 an over. Following Gill’s run-out Wade too holed out in the deep, leaving 104 required off 66 balls.

There was no panic from experienced batters Hardik Pandya and David Miller who have seen such situations a number of times in their careers. Pandya remained unbeaten on 40 off 27 balls, and saw Miller finishing the game with three consecutive sixes, the South African unbeaten on 68 in 38 balls bagged the Man of the Match award.

Twitter erupted as the Titans entered their first IPL final in their debut season.
