Fans Slammed Harbhajan Singh For Paying Tribute To Bhindranwale

Veteran Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who is very active on social media, has come under the scanner of fans on social media after he glorified Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale on his death anniversary on Sunday.

Harbhajan Singh took to his Twitter and hailed him as a ‘martyr’ and offered him ‘pranam’ in an Instagram story.

In his Instagram story, he shared a poster that says “Live with pride, die for the religion.” Sharing the poster, Harbhajan Singh paid tribute to the leader on the 37th anniversary of Operation Blue Star. The poster features Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale at the center wearing a blue turban.

Fans on social media were left disappointed with the latest post shared by Harbhajan Singh. Fans are slamming the cricketer left, right, and center for his latest tweet glorifying the Khalistani leader.

For the unversed, it was in 1982 when Bhindranwale took up arms to create an autonomous state and began running a parallel government in Punjab, which eventually resulted in disputes. Not just this, Bhindranwale and his militants also occupied the Golden Temple and created a military fortification. In 1984, after a bloody battle, Bhindranwale was killed by security forces on the orders of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Though the Khalistani issue and the Sikh separatist movement had died then however there have been many attempted to revive the movement in recent years.
