Fans Spark Hilarious Comparisons After Deepak Hooda Was Spotted Wearing Prasidh Krishna’s Jersey: The second ODI between West Indies and India went down the wire with the visitors prevailing only by 2 wickets with merely 2 balls to spare.
This win on Sunday, which followed a last-ball 3-run victory in the first ODI on Monday, meant India clinched the ODI series – their 12th consecutive bilateral ODI series win over West Indies – with one game yet to be played.
It was a complete team performance from the visitors – one in which Deepak Hooda played a vital role despite not being among the stars to have hogged the limelight.
West Indies had, however, started off briskly with a 65-run opening stand in only 9 overs between Kyle Mayers and Shai Hope. It was indeed then Hooda who broke that opening stand on his first ball of the match – with the wicket of Mayers, who chipped a shot straight back to off-spinner Hooda. Hooda returned with brilliant figures of 9-0-42-1 even as West Indies piled up 311.
Deepak Hooda wasn’t wearing his own jersey

There was an interesting thing that happened when Hooda celebrated Mayers’ wicket as the fans on social media noticed an odd thing Hooda was wearing a jersey which had the name of its possessor taped and hidden away. The jersey only had the number 24 written on it.
This led the fans to speculate a wild theory: a couple of fans recalled and then showed that Hooda’s former team Baroda’s captain Krunal Pandya – with whom he had a feud last year but then both made peace and even played together at the Lucknow Super Giants – wore the number 24 when he played for India.
Here are some of the reactions of fans seeing Hooda wear the No 24 jersey:
Krunal Pandya wore 24 for India and now Hooda is also wearing 24.

Just noticed Hooda is wearing jersey no 24 of Prasidh Krishna and for a moment I thought he has changed his jersey number which was previously alloted to his best friend Krunal Pandya who also used to wear no. 24 in some games for India.

So what’s the truth?
Well, soon the fans deciphered that Hooda was wearing pacer Prasidh Krishna’s jersey. Krishna was dropped for this encounter; the name of Krishna was seen when Hooda wore it initially before taping it.

Meanwhile, speaking about the game, it was Axar Patel, who had taken 1/40 in 9 overs with the ball earlier, who flexed his arms with a magnificent display with the bat in the run chase – smashing 64 unbeaten runs in 35 balls, after fifties from Shreyas Iyer and Sanju – saw India home.
India captain Shikhar Dhawan was effusive in praise for the complete team performance put in by the players as Shai Hope’s century in his 100th ODI went in vain.
“It was a great team performance. Boys didn’t lose the self belief, that is amazing. Iyer, Sanju, Axar everyone was amazing, Even Avesh came out in his debut game and scored those 11 important runs. Thanks to IPL, they perform on a huge stage,” Dhawan said.
“I felt that we bowled nicely. They got off to a good start. Hope and Pooran batted well. We thought if they could do it, we knew that we could do it. We started a little slow. Shubman batted well. The Iyer-Samson partnership made a huge difference. There was a run-out. But these things happen. Boys are learning. Thanks to the support staff as well. They have been doing a tremendous job.”
