Fans Troll 'Tuk Tuk' Ruturaj Gaikwad With Memes For His Slow Fifty In IND vs AUS T20I

Well, the trolling for Ruturaj Gaikwad doesn’t stop in this IND vs AUS T20I series. He bagged a Diamond Duck in the first T20I, getting run out without facing even a single delivery. On Sunday, in the 2nd T20I in Thiruvananthapuram, Gaikwad scored a half-century but was very slow compared to his other batting partners.

Batting first, India piled up 235 runs, but fans felt India would have had more runs had Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 58 runs in 43 balls, batted faster. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s strike rate of 134 was the lowest among all the Indian 6 batters who got to bat today.

First, while Jaiswal smashed 53 (25) in the powerplay, Gaikwad only scored 15 (10) in the opening partnership. Then, even as Ishan Kishan struggled initially, Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to accelerate despite having spent time in the middle already. Thankfully, then, Kishan got going and ended with 52 runs in 32 balls. Captain Suryakumar Yadav hit 19 runs in 10 balls before Rinku Singh blasted 31 runs in 9 balls. Even Tilak Varma whacked 7 runs in only 2 balls.

It seems that Jaiswal has just nudged ahead of Ruturaj Gaikwad in terms of the pecking order of India’s opening slot, behind Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, while Ishan Kishan is there as a backup keeper and opener already.

The slow knock by Ruturaj Gaikwad led to his trolling with funny memes on Twitter:

Australia captain Matthew Wade had won the toss and elected to bowl first.
