After impressing one and all with his bowling masterclass, India’s sensational bowler Shardul Thakur put on a stellar show with the bat in the ongoing second Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg.
On Day 2 of the second Test match against SA, Shardul Thakur claimed his maiden five-wicket haul and in the process, he also registered the best figures by an Indian bowler against the rainbow nation to bring his side back in the contest.
Not just this, on Day 3, Shardul once again came to India’s recuse as he made a valuable contribution with the bat. He played a crucial knock as he walked out to bat after India had already lost 4 wickets for 29 runs after a strong partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane came to an end.
Shardul smashed five fours and a six in a counterattacking 28 off 24 to provide India much-needed momentum. The right-hander helped India to take their lead close to 200 runs.
This isn’t the first time that Shardul contributed with the bat in the lower order for India. In 2021, he scored 67 runs at Gaba and 57 & 60 at Oval.
Shardul smashed some stunning shots during his knock, however, one of the knocks that left everyone stunned was when Thakur held a ‘Nataraj’ pose after slamming Marco Jansen for a square drive in the 50th over of India’s second innings.
