Former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh has come under fire for his casteist remarks which was previously made on an Instagram Live Chat with Rohit Sharma.

The comments which were made at Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav riveted the attention for all the wrong reasons.

Though made in an extremely casual and benign way, it hurt the sentiment of the Dalit community and after realising his mistake, Yuvraj sought a public apology straight away.

Haplessly for the Indian legend, things didn’t really calm down and a complaint which was registered eight months back has now manifested in a FIR.

An advocate from Haryana’s Hisar filed a complaint against Yuvraj for his gross remarks. As per reports in India Today, the Police has registered a complaint about Yuvraj under Sections 153, 153A, 295, 505 of IPC, besides sections 3 (1) (r) and 3 (1) (s) of the SC/ST Act.

On the live chat, Yuvraj used the word ‘b***gi’ while alluding to Indian spinners, Kuldeep and Chahal. This controversy caught fire in no time and Yuvraj sought for a public apology without any delay.

Talking about Chahal’s Tiktok videos, Yuvi commented, “Yeh b***gi log ko kaam nahi hai yeh Yuzi aur isko (Kuldeep).”

Rohit responded, “Yuzi ko dekha kya video daala hai apni family ke saath. Maine usko wahi bola ki apne baap ko nacha raha hai, pagal toh nahi hai tu.”

After facing the ire of social media, Yuvi posted an apology, citing, “This is to clarify I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception.”

The erstwhile all-rounder has hung his boots in 2019 after being an instrumental part of the Indian cricket revolution that started in the early 2000s. He played a crucial role in India’s two World Cup triumphs that saw him hammering India’s way to the final in 2007 and propelling India to the coveted silverware in 2011.
