IPL 2020: In a classic game of cricket, Mayank Agarwal played a gem of a knock to take Punjab to the closing line and it was Agarwal again whose ambitious howler, in the end, cost Punjab the game. With wickets tumbling regularly at the other end, Agarwal steadied the ship with a decent partnership with Krishnappa Gowtham and then followed it with some rollicking bashing of the Delhi bowlers to take Punjab within inching distance of victory.
However, it was Marcus Stoinis who came up trumps as he managed to remove Agarwal with a tempting delivery and followed it with the wicket of Chris Jordan who was caught by Kagiso Rabada in the circle. A game that swung in Punjab’s way three balls prior, was squandered away by an over-ambitious Mayank followed by some pathetic decisions in the super over.
Already missing the likes of Gayle, they opted with Rahul to open them over when they had a certain Maxwell up their sleeves. A set Mayank Agarwal could have also walked in but he was replaced with a clueless Nicholas Pooran who was outclassed by Rabada’s brutal pace. With 3 to win from 6 balls, Rishabh Pant won it comfortably for Delhi who was well out of the equation from the apparent look of the game in the last three balls of the game. What a start to IPL 2920!!

There was a miss from the umpire’s end which would have otherwise not dragged the game into the super over. Another user was angry at the umpire as he stated, “An umpiring error in the 18th over of the match. Mayank completed the run but umpire gave 1 run short. This is rediculos. Punjab should have won the match with 3 bowls left and there would have been no super over.”
