All The Best To Mumbai Indians For Asia Cup 2023; Fans Suspect Foul Play

On Monday, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced a strong contingent of 17 members for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which is all set to start on August 30th. The squad saw the returns of injured batters, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Jasprit Bumrah also became the highlight of the squad.

However, after the announcement of the squad, the Indian team selection committee was charged with allegations that they give Indian Premier League priority over domestic cricket.

Check out the breakdown of India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad players based on their IPL franchises:

Mumbai Indians:

Mumbai Indians, which is led by Indian captain Rohit Sharma, has the largest representation in the Indian squad. The common players in both teams are: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah.

Gujarat Titans:

There are 3 players from Gujarat Titans in the Indian squad for Cup 2023 — Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami.

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj are the two players from RCB.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur are the two players from KKR.

Delhi Capitals:

Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are the two players from Delhi Capitals.

Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants:

These three teams have one player each in the Asia Cup squad — Prasidh Krishna (RR), Ravindra Jadeja (CSK) and KL Rahul (LSG)

Fans are trolling team selectors for giving preference to Mumbai Indians players

Meanwhile, as the majority of players are from MI, fans on social media started trolling the team selection committee left, right, and center. There were many who bashed the BCCI for ignoring domestic cricket and giving preference to IPL.
